# Explanation: Speed Limit Sign
The speed limit sign is a **prohibition sign** that establishes the maximum speed allowed on a road. This means that **you cannot exceed that speed**, but you may drive at a lower speed if road conditions require it. Therefore, it is **prohibited to drive faster than 40 km/h**; it is not simply a recommendation nor an obligation to maintain exactly that speed.
