Are taxi passengers required to wear a seatbelt?

Taxi passengers are required to wear a seatbelt, both inside and outside built-up areas. Within built-up areas, except on motorways, dual carriageways, or conventional roads passing through the locality, taxi drivers who are on duty and travelling in urban traffic or urban areas of large cities are exempt from wearing one. In addition, they may transport persons under 135 centimetres in height without using an approved restraint device, provided they occupy a rear seat.
