A properly adjusted headrest prevents whiplash, which occurs especially in rear-end collisions, and can result in a cervical sprain — one of the most common injuries in traffic accidents — causing pain and injury to the neck area. Almost a quarter of accident victims suffer from it.
For it to be correctly adjusted:
- Height: the top of the headrest should be placed at the same height as the top of the head (its widest part should be level with the eyes).
- Distance: the gap between the head and the headrest should be as small as possible (never more than 4 cm).
