When overtaking heavy and bulky vehicles, such as lorries and buses, with a lateral crosswind from the right, the screen effect occurs. When we draw level with the lorry, our vehicle will be pushed towards it because the lorry creates a protective screen that eliminates the lateral force of the wind, and due to the rightward force we had been applying to the steering wheel — a force that ceases while both vehicles remain parallel and which we will apply again once the overtaking manoeuvre is completed.
