Animals driven in herds or flocks shall move at walking pace, as close as possible to the right-hand edge of the road and in such a way that they never occupy more than the right half of the carriageway, divided into groups of moderate length, each with at least one handler (aged over 18) and sufficiently spaced apart to impede traffic as little as possible. They shall only cross roads at their authorised and signposted crossing points (drove roads) or at places that meet the necessary safety conditions. On insufficiently lit roads or under conditions that reduce visibility, their handlers shall carry lights to indicate their position and dimensions, white or yellow facing forward and red facing rearward.
