In case of very heavy rain, is it advisable to use main beam (high beam) headlights?

If weather conditions are unfavourable, we may use main beam headlights as long as we are not within a built-up area. Even so, we must keep in mind that it is not normally advisable to keep them switched on, as they may impair vision rather than aid it.
