Preventive driving is based on three principles:
- Vision: Information must be gathered with enough time to analyse it and react appropriately.
One must look far ahead, look to the sides frequently, check the mirrors frequently and turn the head to check the blind spot.
- Anticipation: Anticipating risk, being wary of others and preparing to act, adapting speed to the circumstances of the moment and making oneself seen and understood (appropriate use of signalling and the lighting system).
- Space: Maintaining good distances both in front and behind and to the sides will help us have room to manoeuvre in the face of any unexpected situation we encounter.
